About me and my work

Born in 1990, Belgium, she/her, I'm a multi-disciplinary artist that mainly works through research and the sensorial, playing with what I hear, see, smell, feel and if in the attentiveness it attracts me. If so, it will inevitably immerse me. My main artistic  language I would say is writing but it's almost always a cross-pollination with sound, photography, the visual, the body, the sensory.

The past, present, future in it's context.

Throughout my Theatre Studies I wrote my thesis about the society of control and how multi-disciplinary arts can reveal these imbedded societies mechanismes of control to people. My start of this research took place by the fascination of Jeremy Bentham's panopticon and I dove into this complex matter with Guy Debord, Byung-Chul Han and other scholastics.

My research enhanced what I'd been feeling, that even though technology might give us new and advance tools, it increases the bodily disconnection, from our surroundings but also from ourselves which - very shortly stated here -  in itself creates even more division, misunderstanding, violence and exclusion. After an almost two years in-dept research, together with what felt as a rapidly changing and alienating society,  I found myself depleted, utterly emotionally realising even more the world's state.

It is then that I started, I had to, take another mental and bodily road.

I felt the deep need to approach these complex matters not in a fatalistic way because it left me paralysed.

I wanted to tackle the problems in a way that presents possibilities, a healing journey, a way that can open up doors and hearts to create a ripple effect. I said goodbye to Ghent, Brussels for a while (my main grounds at that time) and left for the Italian mountains. I needed to be closer to the earth's ground in order to reconnect with myself. Not denying the difficulties but finding ways to deal with them. In these mountains I found stories, loneliness, souls who seemed just as lost as me but also other cross-border international artists through Biloura (POLIMORFA festival). I remembered my former educational studies where I had the change to create artistic workshops with youngsters exceeding age, background and even language and how through this residency an even more intense feeling of openness, community, belonging and connection overwhelmed me. Because that's what art and creativity does. It enables us to think outside given structures of power, control and violence  It opens up the much needed imagination for different, inclusive, soft societies.

Through the relations with others and nature, research and creating I discovered poetry and connection again.  My path is developing itself through this work of cross-borders connecting in my own creations as co-creations through safe spaces and connecting together through art. Currently my research and artistic works is leading me to notions of intimacy (with nature, others, through love relationships and oneself), trauma healing, eco-feminism as a countermovement for patriarchy and the urgent climate issues, these broad and complex themes are according to me all connected and thus need a multi-disciplinary, multi-artistic approach.

The pictures on this website are taken with different analogue cameras,  as part of my methodology and as described above, looking at nature, each other, not through a fast-lens but with awe and attention to show snippets of a dream-in-world.  Texts mostly derives from research and/or personal diary entrees that later revealed it's significance. They are part of longer texts, or bundels of text according to the different subjects.
